Dog Friendly Glamping in the South Lake District
Wholebarrow and Hook Knot are our two terrace top glamping cabins on our peaceful working farm near Silecroft Beach. Ideal for couples or small families, each cabin has its own private hot tub, modern interior, and picturesque position with views across the valley and fellside.
These cosy, open-plan cabins sleep up to 4 people and are a great choice for walkers, beach-goers or anyone looking to slow down and enjoy the quieter side of the Lake District.

Wholebarrow and Hook Knot are located on a traditional farm in the Whicham Valley, at the foot of Black Combe fell. There are walks from the door, horse riding nearby at Cumbrian Heavy Horses, and Silecroft Beach just five minutes away by car.
This is a peaceful part of the South Lake District, away from the crowds but close to essentials like pubs, cafes, and local shops.
Sleeps up to: 4 guests. Minimum Stay: 2 nights Monday – Thursday / 3 nights on Week
Private Hot Tubs & Peaceful Views
Step outside and unwind in your own private hot tub, set on a raised terrace with open views of the Whicham Valley and surrounding fells. There’s also outdoor seating so you can enjoy peaceful mornings, starry nights, and everything in between.
Please note: these cabins do not have enclosed gardens, so dogs will need to be supervised and on lead when outside.

Wholebarrow and Hook Knot FAQ’s
What are the Check-in and Check-out times?
You can check in to Wholebarrow and Hook Knot from 3pm on your day of arrival. Check-out is at 11am. Early check in and late check out (1pm) can be added at the time of booking for £22.50 each.
I’m riding with Cumbrian Heavy Horses – can I check out later?
We are able to offer late check out (up to 1pm) when we have the availability. This can be added to your booking for £22.50 each side. If you would like to check out at 11am but secure luggage please speak to a member of the campsite team upon arrival.
Is the outside space secure for dogs?
No – the cabins on our terrace all come with their own private outdoor space, but these aren’t enclosed. Please ensure your dog is secured and supervised at all times while on site, and within your garden space.
How many dogs can I bring?
Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at Wholebarrow and Hook Knot per stay. Pets can be added to your booking as an additional. Please take a few minutes to review our Dog Policy to ensure the farm, fells and stables are all kept safe and happy.
Is there WiFi on-site/ in the cabins?
No, we don’t offer WiFi anywhere at the campsite. We like to think this beautiful place allows everyone to take some offline time. We do, however, have good 4G cover in this area.
Is there heating?
Yes, all our cabins come fitted with their own heating system keeping them nice and warm on those cooler nights!
Do you provide bedding and towels?
We offer bedding and towels as an optional extra. Sets can be added to your booking for £25 each per stay. Each bedding set includes 4 pillows, a duvet (with covers), sheets and towels for 2. Alternatively you can bring your own.
How many people can stay in Wholebarrow and Hook Knot?
Wholebarrow and Hook Knot both sleep up to 4 people. Each cabin has one fixed double bed and a double pull-out sofa bed.
Do I need to book the hot tub in advance?
Yes – you can add the Hot Tub to you booking for each night you’d like to have it available. To conserve energy and allow for our cleaning procedure all hot tubs are kept off between visitors. They each take 6 – 8 hours to reach full relaxation tempreture making pre-booking essential.
No sure if you’ll use it? Don’t worry, you can add the hot tub when you arrive and pay during your stay. We’ll turn it on so just let us know in the morning so it’s warming up – as your wine cools!
Do you provide equipment for cooking?
Yes – we’ve included all the essentials such as utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware chopping boards, pots and pans.
Wholebarrow and Hook Knot offer and microwave, toaster and two ring electric hob for cooking.
Do you supply food or offer in-house meals?
All our cabins are offered on a self catering basis – you’ll find tea, coffee and sugar to help you settle in. We have an onsite café that offers a wide range of delicious breakfast and lunch options. No food is supplied as part of your stay.
Is there private parking at Wholebarrow and Hook Knot?
No – these cabins don’t have enclosed or private parking. However we do have space for one car per cabin at the end of the terrace, as well as plenty of parking on the main car park.
Is there a minimum stay requirement for Wholebarrow and Hook Knot?
Yes – we require a minimum of 2 nights. There is a minimum booking requirement of 3 nights on bank holidays.
