Our Dog Policy

Well-behaved furry friends are welcome here at Baystone Bank Farm Campsite. To keep everyone safe, happy and enjoying the camp we ask that those bringing dogs onsite follow a few simple, common sense rules.

Leads and Tethering
  • All dogs must be kept on lead at all times whilst on the campsite, farm and surrounding fields.
  • Dogs must also be tethered (or on-lead) while at their pitches. We have tethering stakes available onsite – simply ask one of our friendly wardens!
  • While we understand each dog and owners have varying level of skill we must protect our horses, sheep and visitors.
  • For off-lead walks please visit one of the wonderful beaches nearby, or Millom Woods.
  • Anyone seen disregarding the on-site lead and tether policy may be asked to leave the site. No refunds will be given.
Picking up Poos (and taming tinkles)
  • Inevitable nature will call while your dog is on-site. Please clean up after your dog immediately, disposing of the waste in the car park bins.
  • Equally, please be mindful of when and where your dog relieves themselves, being sure to avoid other peoples pitches and property.
Dogs and Kids
  • Children and dogs both stay with us here at Baystone. Please ensure your dog gives all children appropriate space, and never approaches unsupervised.
  • Equally, we encourage all parents/ guardians of visiting children to instil good ‘dog-sense’ and discourage approaching, touching or startling the dogs on camp.
Dog Numbers
  • You can add up to two dogs per pitch at the time of booking.

Please note that arriving with more than two dogs could result in your booking being cancelled without a refund.

Breed Considerations

Whilst we are aware that the way a dog is raised, handled and trained has a considerable impact on whether a dog is dangerous, we are mindful of the number of children on site. After much consideration and wishing to keep the site safe for everyone, we have taken the decision not to allow any of the following breeds of dogs:

The Dangerous dogs Act of 1991 specified some breeds to be of potential danger to the public.

  • Pit Bull Terrier
  • Dogo Argentino
  • Japanese Tosa
  • Fila Brasileiro
  • American Pit Bull Terrier
  • Bull Mastiff
  • English Bull Terrier
  • Japanese Akita
  • Rhodesian Ridgeback
  • Staffordshire Bull Terrier
  • and every dog of the type commonly known as a Ban Dog (or Bandog)
  • or cross of every breed or type of dog listed above. every other strain

Please do not ask us to make exceptions for your dog.

Anti-Social Behaviour

We understand that all dogs are different, and ones ability to remain calm and in control may differ significantly from another. However, if your dog becomes disruptive, dangerous and causes discomfort to others we may ask you to leave.

Anti-social behaviour on-site includes, but is not limited to:

  • Excessive barking, whining or other vocalisation
  • Reactivity, lunging or chasing towards campers, other dogs or animals (including on/from pitches)
  • Digging or other destructive behaviour
  • Stealing or scavenging from pitches, benches or otherwise
  • Chasing or worrying livestock

If you are concerned about your dogs response to people passing your pitch please use the site map to find a suitable quiet spot
