Our hand-built and homely Roundhouse is overflowing with charm, character and cosy comforts. With sweeping views across the Whicham Valley, it’s a welcoming base for couples or families looking to explore the quieter side of the Lake District.

​This single-room cabin is simple, warm, and well-equipped for a comfortable countryside break—ideal for walkers, dog owners, and those who prefer wide open space over crowds.



Comfort Meets Simplicity

The Roundhouse is fully insulated and designed for year-round stays, with everything you need for a cosy break:

  • Fixed double bed + double sofa bed
  • Fully equipped kitchen: induction hob, fridge, microwave, sink, kettle, toaster
  • Wood-burning stove
  • Electric lighting and power throughout
  • Peaceful terrace garden with private fire pit and outdoor seating
  • All bedding, towels, and kitchenware provided
  • The shared toilet and shower block is just 20 metres away, kept clean and easily accessible.

Sleeps up to: 4 guests. Minimum Stay: 2 nights Monday – Thursday / 3 nights on Bank Holidays

Roundhouse FAQ’s

What time are check-in and check-out times?

You can check in to The Roundhouse from 3pm on your day of arrival. Check-out is at 11am. 

Is the garden fully secured for dogs?

No – while The Roundhouse has it’s own outside space with picnic table and firepit it isn’t enclosed with fencing. Therefore we request that all dogs are supervised and on lead while outside The Roundhouse. ​

How many dogs can I bring?

Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Roundhouse. 

Is there WiFi?

We don’t offer WiFi anywhere at the campsite – we like to think this beautiful place allows everyone to take some offline time. We do, however, have good 4G cover in this area. 

Is there heating in The Roundhouse? 

You can keep the insulated Roundhouse really toasty using the internal log burner. It’s design and build mean The Roundhouse stays warm for a long time. We also provide an electric heater should you need it. 

Where can I get wood for the log burner?

All Roundhouse guests are provided a sack of FREE firewood on arrival. You can buy additional sacks of firewood from the campsite warden throughout your stay. 

Do you provide bedding and towels?

Yes – all bedding and towels are provided as part of your booking.  

How many people can stay in The Roundhouse? 

The Roundhouse has a fixed double bed and a double sofa bed to sleep up to four people. We can also provide up to two additional children’s roll mats and sleeping bags for floor or indoor camping!

You can add additional guests to your stay when booking the Roundhouse (Adults £6 each, children £3 each)

Does The Roundhouse have it’s own shower and toilet facilities? 

No, all the facilities for The Roundhouse (including loos, showers and extra washing up, fridge and freezer space are located just 20m away as part of the shared campsite provision. 

Do you provide equipment for cooking? 

Yes – we’ve included all the essentials such as utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware chopping boards, pots and pans.  The Roundhouse has a microwave and a two ring induction hob for cooking.

Do you supply food or offer in-house meals? 

All our cabins are offered on a self catering basis – you’ll find tea, coffee and sugar to help you settle in. We have an onsite café that offers a wide range of delicious breakfast and lunch options. No food is supplied as part of your stay. 

Is there private parking at The Roundhouse? 

No – parking for The Roundhouse is in the main site car park a short two minute walk away. 

Is there a minimum stay requirement for The Roundhouse? 

Yes – we require a minimum of two nights. There is a minimum booking requirement of three nights on bank holidays. 

I’ve noticed The Roundhouse is also on AirBnB, are there any perks to booking directly with you?

AirBnB charge an admin fee which is a percentage of your overall booking. We don’t therefore your trip will cost a little less by booking direct with us.
